چکیده

Autoimmune urticaria (AIU) is an important subset of chronic spontaneous (CSU) and can be relatively difficult to manage. Autologous serum skin test (ASST) has served as a useful bedside detect AIU its comparison with various blood biomarkers may unlock avenues in diagnosing autoimmune urticaria. Aim our study was assess role ASST CSU correlation relevant biomarkers. It hospital-based which 58 patients were enrolled. done all routine investigations including Absolute Eosinophil Count (AEC), Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) Immunoglobulin E(IgE). positive 44.8% out patients. showed longer disease duration, higher severity more generalised than the negative group. AEC lower, although statistically insignificant (284.21±57.43 cells/ul) compared (310.64±71.05 (p=0.131). TSH on other hand comparable values both groups (p=0.744). Mean IgE significant difference between those who (297.96 ±42.34 IU/ml) vs negative. (323.57 ±44.16 (p=0.029*). serve diagnose often severe prolonged well being refractory conventional treatment. Lower complement diagnosis

Evaluation of the utility of autologous serum skin test and the efficacy of autologous serum therapy in chronic spontaneous urticaria

Background: Autologous serum skin test (ASST) evaluates the presence of any serum histamine-releasing factors and histamine-releasing autoantibodies. Autologous serum therapy (AST) is a therapy in which repeated injections of autologous serum are administered intramuscularly for treatment of chronicspontaneous urticaria (CSU). The aim of this study is to evaluate the advantages and compare the ...

Autologous Serum Skin Test versus Autologous Plasma Skin Test in Patients with Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria

Previous studies indicate that 25-45% of chronic urticaria patients have an autoimmune etiology. Autologous serum skin test (ASST) and autologous plasma skin test (APST) are simple tests for diagnosing chronic autoimmune urticaria (CAU). However, there are still some questions about the specificity of these tests. This study consisted of 50 patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and ...

HLA among Brazilian patients with spontaneous chronic urticaria and positive autologous serum skin test.

BACKGROUND An association between class I and II alleles of the major histocompatibility complex and idiopathic chronic urticaria has previously been observed in different populations, but there are still no studies on Brazilian populations in this regard. OBJECTIVE The involvement of the major histocompatibility complex classes I and II (loci A, B and DR) in Brazilian patients with idiopathi...

Autologous serum and plasma skin test to predict 2-year outcome in chronic spontaneous urticaria

BACKGROUND Autologous serum skin test (ASST) and autologous plasma skin test (APST) are simple methods to diagnose autoimmune chronic urticaria. However, the association data of ASST or APST with disease severity and long-term outcome are still unclear. OBJECTIVE The results of ASST and APST might be used to predict urticaria symptom severity and long-term outcomes among chronic spontaneous u...

Is There Correlation between Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria and Elevated Serum IgE? A Pilot Study

Background: The etiology of urticaria is recognized only in a minority of cases. Allergies to a wide variety of agents have been suspected, as well as hyper reactivity to food additives or drugs. Recently, autoimmune reaction to immunoglobulin E (IgE) and later to high-affinity IgE receptors on mast cells has been reported. The aim of this study was to show elevated serum IgE levels in the pati...
